Today I’m very happy to share with you my new 2012 good luck charm, which is a sterling silver dragonfly. I still can’t believe that I managed to prepare them on time this year!
Dragonflies are considered symbols of change, good luck, prosperity and strength by many ancient civilizations. I’ve always been fascinated by all the different stories and myths surrounding their existence. Like the one that explains how dragonflies acquired their name, it’s because once they were dragons!
I have carved “XII” on the dragonfly’s body, which stands for 12 in latin. I wanted the reference to the upcoming year to be subtle, so that it can be easily worn every year, not just during 2012.
Each pendant is strung on colorful waxed linen cord with added silk embellishments.
….of course, I couldn’t resist offering the option to wear the dragonfly as a ring:
