I love making alternate versions of previous designs and trying new combinations of colours and materials.
Right now I’m making a gold plated version of the rosette necklace, in which I combined fuchsia pink and teal coloured jade stones. The necklace will be finished with a hand stitched dark green velvet ribbon.
I’m also working on a new crocheted seedpods brooch. The “branches”, which are cast in brass from real twigs will be gold plated and then I’m adding these deep blue “pods”. You can see the previous versions of this brooch here and here.
Another thing I’m always trying to develop is new ways to display my work. Since I’m strongly influenced by the world of nature, I thought I’d use natural materials for my displays. These eucalyptus slices were hand cut and sanded by my father. I’ll see how they’re going to work during my open studio this Sunday and after that I might use them for a craft fair that I’m doing mid December.
