Sunday morning

The sky is still cloudy around here but there’s something about this weather that I find very appealing.

They even say that it’s going to snow in a couple of days……sounds very strange, we’ll just have to wait and see!

After a nice cup of coffee, I’m back home to work on some polymer clay molds.

The other day I had noticed these nice floral patterns on a belt that a friend was wearing. She gave it to me so that I can make molds in polymer. My plan was to use them with silver metal clay.

The molds seemed nice but when I tried to transfer the pattern on metal clay, I wasn’t pleased with the result.

I decided to use some previously made molds instead. They were made by pressing jacaranda and sage leaves, a tiny shell, a piece of star anise and a couple of buttons on polymer clay. Here, you can see the unfired metal clay pieces:

After they are completely dried, I will file and sand them. Then It’s time for the most fun part: torch firing, which transforms clay to pure silver! Such a magical process!

I made a few more polymer molds, using these buttons. They’re not baked yet but I will post an update soon.
