Rings for Ring-a-Week

RAW52 #12 “Nostalgia”

Yesterday, I was cleaning up the rings and prepping everything for the RAD exhibition in Seattle (more about this soon). I was feeling very nostalgic again and I ended up making this ring, using scraps and a piece of lace that I had on my table.

So it’s not very practical/wearable etc. but who cares? This is what I loved most about Ring-a-Day, the freedom to play with the materials, not having to care about practical issues. I kind of miss this lately and I had to do something about it!

Here’s another ring that I made for Ring-a-Week, using one of the metal clay pieces that I mentioned in a previous post.

leaf ring

RAW52 #11 “Jacaranda”

I used a jacaranda leaf to make a mold in polymer clay and then I made this metal clay version of the leaf.
I’m not sure if I’m going to keep this ring shank or change into a different style.

This ring will be added to the botanical series and I’m also going to use the leaf imprint to make earrings and a pendant.

To see what all the other participants are making, check-out the Ring-a-Week group on Flickr.
