In the same spirit of experimentation and play, here are a few photos from the jewelry classes that I’m attending at the Chalkis Jewellery School. Our current project is to interpret four specific words, using a wide variety of diverse materials. We have started with the words “ένθετο”, which means “inlaid” and “εν-κάθετο”, which refers to an object being inserted perpendicularly into another object.
At this point, we’re not concerned about making wearable objects, we don’t care even if they look ugly. It’s all about playing with these concepts, learning how our materials work and producing alternative forms.
