Plans made to be broken

I usually start working in the studio with a clear plan of what I want to make on this particular day but then things take unexpected turns and I just follow!

The same happened yesterday. I wanted to work on a couple medium length necklaces and also a few more bracelets.
But my recently developed interest in the process of etching did not let me! Suddenly I had this urge to etch a design based on my measuring tape ring from last year’s RAD.

Ring-a-Week #33, “Measuring tape”, etched copper.

The etching turned out pretty nice and I think I would like to see it in silver….plus it’s also adjustable. What I’m still not sure is whether I would prefer the numbers to be raised, as they are now, or recessed.

After that I also etched a phrase: “creative minds are rarely tidy”. I remember reading this quote somewhere and after a little online search I discovered that it is attributed to psychoanalyst Carl Jung.

While the copper was in the etching bath, I worked on a few more silver and resin pieces.

This is pair of heart shaped silver earrings, a small circle ring and a bracelet component, all filled with pigmented resin. They should have cured by now, I’d better go and check what’s going on.
