“A day at the beach” – brooch, sterling silver, copper, stainless steel, found shell, sea urchin & coral
“Succulent garden” – brooch, sterling silver, bullet casing, stainless steel, succulent, potting soil.
With a small delay, here are the two brooches that I’ve been working on lately. Both pieces will be on display until June 24th at the Jewellery & Ceramic Exhibition of the Chalkis Art Workshop, held at Kokkino Spiti (The Red House).
They belong to the Phytologio series, which is inspired by organic forms and natural materials. As a child, I used to collect natural specimens, press leaves or flowers and create books with these samples. My fascination with these forms and materials still remains but it’s now time to move one step further and find ways to re-interpret them by making wearable pieces or small sculptures.
This is an ongoing exploratory process, parallel to the body of work that you already are familiar with and that I will keep pursuing.
Thanks for visiting!
