During the weekend, I made the jewelry with my latest metal clay pieces.
First, I used the shell and quickly made another one for this ring. Between the two shells, I soldered a sterling silver tube, which was filled with blue-colored resin. The band of the ring is roll printed with a kind of wavy texture.
The sage leaves were turned into earrings, by soldering sterling silver ear wires and adding two amethyst faceted rondelles and green waxed linen cord.
A good friend of mine was kind enough to be my model, so that you can see how they look when worn. I also made a little pendant with the flower. The pendant is strung on orange waxed linen cord and I added a small cotton thread bundle in a contrasting green color.
I made a pendant with the buxus leaves, which was strung on red, silk cord.
Finally, I fabricated a sterling silver bail, which was soldered on the domed circle with the urchin texture. During the soldering process, the stone that I had originally fired with the clay, slipped off. So I changed the design and added resin, the same color as the shell ring.
I also wanted to show you the final brooch, made with one of Evelyn’s stamps. Again, I encountered some problems with the stone. In the initial design, there was a tube set chrysoprase bullet on the bottom right corner. I filed the tube wall a little bit more than I should have and the stone wouldn’t be secure in the setting. The resin had already cured and it would be impossible to solder another tube without ruining the piece. I decided to cut the tube and omit it from the brooch design.
The back side is a roll printed copper sheet with a leaf texture. I made this pinback mechanism for the first time and it seems to be working just fine!
