During the last couple of weeks, I had a great time revisiting the friendship bracelets that I was making obsessively when I was a child.
Knotting the embroidery floss, which comes in a wonderful variety of colors, is what I love doing. The difficult part was to think of ways to make more grown up versions of these bracelets, either by adding metal or other embellishments.
I have experimented with quite a few alternatives and I will keep playing until I come up with more ideas that will work.
This first bracelet above is finished with handmade end cups and a rose quartz stone.
The bracelet below started with a scrap piece of twisted sterling silver wire and it was finished with four shades of blue embroidery thread, knotted in a spiral pattern. I also made the silver end cups for this one. I liked the monochromatic palette a lot and now I’m considering adding more colors in this range. For starters, I’m thinking tones of green, red and purple.
