Custom work

I love making custom work, especially when it’s fun and colorful, like these pieces. Playing with fibers and combining them with metal is my favorite thing!

These were all requested by a dear friend and she’s like a muse for me. Whatever crazy idea I have she’s in for it and she often suggests to push it even further! She’s a very kind person and fun to be around, even her name in greek implies happiness!

Ring-a-Week #25 “Silk & Silver

This ring, made with silk, lace and silver, was based on another one that I’ve made long ago. And let’s not forget, this is also going to be my #25 for Ring-a-Week!

Silver earrings, embellished with all sorts of buttons, ribbons and wooden beads:

A new butterfly “species”, developed from a couple butterfly earrings that I’ve made lately:

She has also asked for a pair of earrings, featuring a fishbone and a cat. These are samples of the fishbones and cats that I’ve made in the past, mostly worn as pendants:

This is how the earrings looked before adding the fiber embellishments:

….and here are the finished earrings:

Another reason why I like doing custom work is the chance to try things that I wouldn’t have thought of doing. Take the color combination of the earrings below for example. I don’t think I would have ever put these two colors together but now that I see them, I actually like how they look! (Note to self: need to crochet one pair for me as well!)
