Collections on display

Remember the vintage drawer that I found at the flea market a few weeks ago? It’s the kind that was used to store the wooden types for letterpress.

I thought it would be perfect to display bits and pieces of the objects that I collect. This way I can see them all the time and not have them hidden in a box. It is also easy to change it, so that it reflects all the current “obsessions”!

I started placing some of my favorite objects in it: a sea urchin, vintage wooden spools, feathers, rocks, a heart-shaped pebble that I found last summer, vintage “crown” cufflinks and shells. There are still many compartments empty to fill. I want to find some of the wooden types and continue “building” it slowly.

The old wood adds warmth . The combination of contemporary and vintage must be my favorite trend in decorating so far.
Here’s a link to a blog that I recently found, which reflects this trend. It’s called Old Brand New. I think you will enjoy the photos that you’ll find there, they are wonderful!
