Collecting natural specimens

A few days ago I purchased a class recording from Craftcast on how to make a botanical bracelet by Patrik Kusek. The video included an in-depth discussion on how to make photopolymer plates, which to be honest, I find quite difficult to comprehend. I’ll have to watch it several more times. But the bracelet is really beautiful and the class has re-inspired me to search for new leaf specimens and make new molds, besides the ones that I have already tried in the past.

These are some random leaves found during a walk together with lavender flowers and leaves, mint, thyme and a hydrangea flower. The mint and lavender leaves made a nice, clear impression on polymer and I’m quite happy with the results. I’m not sure about the rest though.

Next step is to bake the polymer clay molds and make the metal clay versions of the leaves. Of course I’m out of metal clay…again! So this last step will have to wait for a while.
