A nice cup of coffee always sets the mood, especially when you discover a heart inside it!
After the completion of the Ring-a-Day project, I’ve been looking forward to expanding some of the ideas that came up through the daily ringmaking.
We’ve discussed many options with the other participants and looks like not one but two new projects have already been formed.
Mary Lu Wason started the True Addicts of Daily Art (TADA365). In this group, we are committing to make progress every day on our art jewelry creations. The goal is to make at least one collection by the end of the year. We can demonstrate progress through sketches, samples, , inspirational images and -of course- finished pieces.
I’m starting off with a collection of Resin and Silver Jewelry. First, I chose some of my RAD rings for further development. I made more sketches and re-discovered older ones. By the end of the first week, I began fabricating some of the sterling silver frames that will hold the pigmented resin. My daily entries so far:
1. TADA365, #1 Collecting ideas from RAD, 2. TADA365, #2 Collecting ideas from RAD, 3. TADA365, #3 Supplies list, 4. TADA365, #4 Collecting ideas from RAD, 5. TADA365, #5.1 Old sketches, 6. TADA365, #5.2 Old sketches
1. TADA365, #6 Collecting ideas from RAD, 2. TADA365, #7 Inspiration from a photo, 3. TADA365, #8 Sanding the first piece, 4. TADA365, #9 Sealing the frames in position, 5. TADA365, #10 Soldering a silver frame, 6. TADA365, #11 Ideas for a house-shaped ring
There’s so much diversity in this group and it’s fascinating to watch everyone’s processes. Visit the group’s pool and blog to learn more. You’re also welcome to join any time!
….and then, there’s RAW, which stands for Ring-a-Week. This group was created by Thomasin Durgin and as you may have guessed, we have to make one ring per week for one year, which is a total 52 rings. Sounds too easy compared to the 365 rings of last year? We’ll just have to see how it goes!
So far more than 200 people have signed up. I feel already overwhelmed by the range of work presented in this group and all the wonderful new artists that I get to meet.
Here are my first two entries:
1. RAW52 #1 “Making circles”, 2. RAW52 #2 “Oval”
If you decide you want to join RAW, all you need to do is sign up here. If you only want to watch, you can do that as well!
I’m very excited about both these groups and I will keep you posted about our progress.
