This year I have the unique opportunity to take weekly classes at the Jewelry School of Chalkida’s Art Center. I managed to make some changes to my work schedule so that I can be there once a week.
My goal is to do more experimental work and focus on my botanical series. It’s challenging to turn the ideas that I have in mind into reality but it’s also very exciting. Through this process I hope that I will develop my technical as well as design skills.
So far I started a separate sketchbook where I’m gathering ideas about this series. On the second class, I started making the repousse punches, pictured above, out of steel nails. Very fun indeed, especially the hammering part!
I’m also enjoying the company of my classmates. Jewelry making can be a very lonely practice and though I do love the part of being alone and creating, it’s also very nice to interact with people who share common interests.
Thanks for visiting!
