Etching silver with nitric acid

For these custom-made name bracelets, the design was etched on silver, using stopping out varnish as a resist. The varnish was painted on silver. After waiting for a few minutes to dry, names and dates were hand-written with a scribe.

The silver sheet, which was secured on a piece of foam with double-side tape, was then submerged in a nitric acid solution. About an hour later, the silver pieces were ready!
